What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file saved by your browser. OstadTools also uses the browser's local storage to remember some settings. This page explains what is stored and why.
Necessary cookies (always on)
They are essential for the website to work; they are not used to track you.
- Session (
ostadtools_sid): keeps you signed in and protects forms (anti-forgery token). Deleted when you sign out or close the browser. - Language (
lang): remembers the chosen language (French, Arabic, English). - Paired phone (
scan_device): on the phone used as a camera, links the device to the grading session for the duration of the pairing.
Settings stored in the browser
Display preferences (collapsed sidebar, theme), camera settings (quality, zoom, QR code reading) and your choice about measurement cookies. This information stays on your device.
Audience measurement (with your consent)
If the OstadTools team has enabled it, we use Google Analytics to know which pages are visited and improve the site. When the consent banner is shown, no measurement cookie is set before you click "Accept" (Google consent mode). Grading pages and students' data are never sent to these tools.
Changing your choice
You can clear the site's cookies and data in your browser settings: the consent banner will appear again. Declining measurement cookies does not prevent you from using the platform.
